In my previous blog I have explained in detail the steps to install and configure Commerce Data Exchange: Async Server. In this blog I will be demonstrating the steps to install and configure Commerce Data Exchange: Async Client. Async Client is installed at any one computer of every Retail Point-of-sale store.

  1. Before installation, we should install another key Retail component which is Retail channel database. It is the store database which contains day-to-day sales and payment data of a store.
  2. Open Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 setup > Add or modify components > Select Retail channel database from Retail Components and Click Next.

  4. Before we proceed with Async Client installation, make sure to import the SSL certificate of your Async Server in the “Trusted Root Certificate Authority” node of your Async Client computer to avoid any connectivity issues with Async Server while installing Async Client. Also make sure to disable firewall settings and set up your system time according to your region.
  5. Now start the installation. Open Microsoft Dynamics AX 2012 R3 setup > Add or modify components > Select Async Client from Retail Components and Click Next.

  6. Validate Prerequisite and Click Next. Now On Configure Async Client page:
    – Enter your Async Server URL
    – Enter Channel database id, username and password. You can create a new Channel database profile from Retail > Setup > Parameters > Retail scheduler > Channel integration > Channel database. Each channel database must be connected to a Retail Store. Also I recommend to create separate channel data group for every channel database, you can create them from Retail > Setup > Parameters > Retail scheduler > Channel integration > Channel data group.
Note: After creating channel database profile make sure to “Sync metadata” and after entering it in setup click “Test connection” to make sure that connection is successful.
    – Enter Async Client service username with domain and password.Blog-AC4
  7. Select channel database name created in earlier steps. Enter channel message database name, the setup will create and configure it. Don’t select any existing database. Click Next > Validate Prerequisite and Click Next > Click Install.Blog-AC5

After the installation, Go to Retail > Setup > Parameters > Retail scheduler > Channel integration > Channel database. Select your channel database and run full data sync job “9999” on it.
